Rapture Ruckus Releases In Crowd Video!

I LOVE this song, and I LOVE LOVE LOVE this video!

Simply superb. Check it out below! (And be sure to look for Spin: the Blog’s mention under the ‘Fan Funded’ credits at the end….Yeah, baby!)

Brad Dring from Rapture Ruckus to Appear on RemedyLive.com Today!

The Gong(ed) Show has one of my favorite kiwis (for those of you who don’t know what a kiwi is besides a fruit, it’s a nickname for someone from New Zealand) stopping by on Skype today for a chat at 4:30 pm EST–Brad Dring, lead singer from the rad band Rapture Ruckus!

If you haven’t seen Rapture Ruckus live and in person before, let me state for the record you are really missing out!  They are AWESOME!!  Hopefully you live somewhere near a stop of the Newsboys fall 2013 Restart tour so you can catch them while they are out on the road with the Newsboys, for King & Country, and Moriah Peters in the near future.

This afternoon, Brad will most likely be talking “In Crowd” with Faup and the gang on the show, especially since it is release day for the fabulous In Crowd video!  Of course, I’m not just saying that because I ponied up $$$ to support the funding of this deserving project…but I will say that I am VERY pleased with the end results.  You gotta love any music video that features Soul Glow Activatur from Family Force Five as a school bus driver!

You can check out the In Crowd video below, and check back tomorrow for video of the full Skype session with Brad right here on Spin: the Blog!

I’m Ba-ack! And Some Great News!

I bet y’all thought I’d fell off the face of the earth of something, right?  It’s been awhile (okay, 19 days!) since I’ve posted here on Spin: the Blog, and I just wanted to take a moment to thank everyone who took time to e-mail and Facebook and Twitter me sweet messages asking if I was okay.

The truth is, I wasn’t feeling very well for for a week or two and had to have some surgery.

In the grand scheme of things, no big deal, not really, and I’m doing much, much better now (and I’m ready to take on the world!)  So thanks for your positive thoughts and prayers, they mean the world to me and I am 100% certain that they made all the difference in how quickly I recovered.

With this being said, I have some good news and some some, well, I won’t say bad news, but more like unfortunate news to share with you.

Let’s start with the unfortunate news.

While I was laid up on my couch for 2 weeks, I missed writing reviews on what was some of the very best new releases in Christian music in 2013.  Yes, you read that right, and yes, I am completely bummed.  I’ve been mulling over some ways to rectify this situation, and while I haven’t completely come up with a totally rad solution yet, I have a couple of ideas that have potential.

Make no mistake about it–I fully intend to keep you informed on all the latest and greatest in the world of Christian music!

Now, for the super-exciting good news!  Hold on to your hats, my friends, because this is a BIG announcement!

Spin: the Blog’s Beth Stauffer (that’s ME!) is super pumped to be partnering with RemedyLive.com as their first ever Artist Liaison!  What that means is, I will be the “talent guru” so-to-speak, looking for awesome artists with great music and compelling personal stories to Skype in to RemedyLive’s GONG Show and chat with the show hosts.  Of course, as the Artist Liaison, I will get the first crack at the artists, doing  preliminary interviews and writing about them here on Spin.  RemedyLive will then share the live web content with me to post here on Spin, so you can enjoy the live interviews with the artists as well–how FUN will that be?!

If you don’t know much about RemedyLive.com, please feel free to head over to their website to learn more about their ministry to 12-25 year olds.  RemedyLive’s motto is, “We chat.  We listen.  We love.” and I LOVE that about them!  I also love that they help young adults work through a lot of tough issues including faith, depression, self-harm, suicide, abuse, pornography, sexual identity, and eating disorders by using modern Christian music and interviews with artists to connect with them.

I am so excited about this new venture between Spin: the Blog and RemedyLive.com, and I hope you will partner with me in my excitement over what amazing things God has in store for the future!

Of course, if you are one of my much-loved readers here on Spin and are struggling with any of the above mentioned issues, I want you to know that you are not alone, and there IS hope to be found in Jesus Christ.  I know this to be true, because I was once in the very same place you now find yourself; in fact, I have, at one time or another, fought intense battles with 6 of the 8 issues that RemedyLive helps young adults overcome.  I would like to encourage you to visit RemedyLive.com if you are need of someone to talk to by chatting anonymously with a Soul Medic today.  If you have a prayer request, I’d love to hear from you, too–drop me a line at Beth@BethStauffer.com anytime!

Coming up on RemedyLive.com, you can catch Brad Dring of Rapture Ruckus at 4:30 pm EST on the GONG Show talking about the band’s new song, ‘IN CROWD’ and fall plans to tour with the Newsboys and For King & Country on September 17th; on September 19th at 4:30 pm EST, crazy talented rapper K-Drama will Skype in to the show.  K-Drama has produced for such iconic artists as Lecrae, Tedashii and Flame and been featured vocally on songs with Sho Baraka, R-Swift and more than 100 artists all over the world.  K-Drama has a compelling personal story to share, and this will be one interview you won’t want to miss!

Help Rapture Ruckus Fund the Video for ‘In Crowd’!

My favorite Christian group from New Zealand, Rapture Ruckus, has a neat opportunity for their fans and supporters to help fund a video for their latest project, In Crowd.  Check out all the details in the e-mail I received earlier today below:

“To all our Ruckus family,

We have just launched our very first fan funded project.  We’re going to partner with you guys to make an amazing music video for our new song IN CROWD.

It’s been incredible seeing the response to this song.  All the #NeverGonnaBeInTheInCrowd photos you’ve been posting on our Facebook & Twitter and the messages you have sent us – so cool.  If you haven’t seen it already go to http://facebook.com/raptureruckus and scroll down the page to see all the photos.

We’ve been so inspired and would love to make the best, most impacting music video we’ve ever released.

We believe more than ever that the world needs to hear this message.  IN CROWD is all about standing up for the outcasts, the bullied, anyone who has ever felt like they don’t fit in.  And it’s about celebrating the different… and occasionally humorous… things that make us unique.

So we need YOU!  We need you guys to help us raise $15,000.  It’s not a huge budget in the world of making music videos but we have found a really supportive film production company in LA to help make it happen.

There are a bunch of “perks” for everyone that contributes… try your hand as Band Stylist; or bring a Ruckus House Party to your place; or get some friends together and encourage one of your mates by giving them a day On Tour with us!

Here is the IN CROWD video project page: http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/rapture-ruckus-in-crowd-music-video

Much love and respect,

Brad & the Ruckus crew”

Here’s a short little video of Brad from Rapture Ruckus talking about the In Crowd project:

Okay, its me (Beth) again…I’ve been a fan of the ‘In Crowd’ song/movement since day 1, and I’m happy to share this info with y’all in hopes that you’ll consider getting behind this much needed project.  I put my wallet where my mouth is, too…and made a donation to get the party started!  I’ve seen Rapture Ruckus twice in concert and they put on a great, high energy show…one of my favorites (just watch out for the Super Soaker!)  I haven’t seen ‘In Crowd’ in person yet–hopefully soon!

Check out an official Rapture Ruckus lyric video below:

PS $15,000 is cheap for a music video!

Cute Baby Alert!

Luke, 1/2 of for King & Country fame, today posted a new pic of his adorable 3 month old son, Jude, on Twitter.  Baby Jude is super cute and sporting some mega chunky baby cheeks and a sweet little smile in the picture!  To see the picture of Jude on his Dad & Uncle Joel’s Twitter feed, click here.

There are certainly some cute little Christian Music baby boys making their debuts lately, from Jude of fK&C to Meredith Andrew’s Remington and Rapture Ruckus’ cutie-pie, Roman Dring (son of lead singer Brad Dring).

Maybe Britt Nicole and Group 1 Crew’s Bianca will have girls later this year to even out the crowd?

This N That Music News, Tuesday 2/26/2013

It’s cold in Indiana today. We are in the midst of an ice storm, and as a result I am cowering under a stack of warm blankets right now trying to keep warm. So, partially because I’m trying to stay warm and partially because I’m feeling kind of lazy I’m just going to write one mashed up blog highlighting some of the music news of the day.

First and most news worthy (OK, at least to me) was that one of my favorite bands, the Sidewalk Prophets (@swprophets), tweeted today that they spent the day writing some new music with frequent co-writer, Sam Mizell (@SamMizell). Yay! The band’s lead singer, Dave Frey (@swpdave), later tweeted “Writing Christmas tunes with our good friend @SamMizell. Gonna be glorious!” Granted, I’m not quite as excited about new Christmas music as I would be about, let’s say, all season multi-purpose Sidewalk Prophets music, but regardless I’m sure it will indeed be glorious as promised.

In other Sidewalk Prophets news, band co-founder Ben McDonald today announced the winners of the “Love To Sing” video cover contest. Congrats to sisters Salah and Shekinah on their winning cover of the band’s tune, ‘Love Love Love.’ You can check out their video on YouTube below:

Next up, does anyone remember Stryper besides me? Don’t try and deny it, you know you do! (How could anyone forget the classic ‘To Hell With the Devil’?) I remember being 7 or 8 years old, brown pigtails and all, listening to Stryper with my Dad.

Those were good times.

Well, the good times are about to rock and roll again as Stryper is set to release an album of new music this March on Frontier Records. The first single off ‘Second Coming’, the new the album, is called ‘Bleeding From the Inside Out’ and was released on February 25th, 2013. You can find out all the deets on Stryper’s new music in the video below where Michael Sweet & company discuss the band’s history and future:

Okay, so while we are talking about things we do and don’t remember…do you remember yesterday when I told y’all about the new Everfound single, ‘Never Beyond Repair?’ Remember how I said I thought this was going to be a big song for the group in the near future? And, remember how I encouraged y’all to call up your radio station and ask them to play ‘Never Beyond Repair’? Well, today Everfound (@Everfound) tweeted the following: “Last night we found out that our song Never Beyond Repair is the MOST-ADDED song on Christian Radio this week!”

Well..told ya so!

Congrats Everfound on your recent success! Very well deserved 🙂

Last but not least, in other Twitter-y news of the day, Brad Dring of Rapture Ruckus posted a super cute picture of a Skype chat with his 5 week old son on Instagram today. Little Roman is the cutest baby ever! (You can check out the photo on Instagram by clicking here.) Congrats to the Dring family on this new little sweetie!

In other Rapture Ruckus news, the band recently added a lyric video for their new song that I am obsessed with, ‘In Crowd’. The song was recorded live at the famed Parachute Music Festival in New Zealand last fall and you can download it for free at the Rapture Ruckus website, http://www.RaptureRuckus.com. Not much better in life than great music that is free 🙂

Hands down, my favorite band from Wellington, New Zealand is Rapture Ruckus. I’ve seen Rapture Ruckus in concert a couple of times, and even gone to one of lead singer Brad Dring’s dance parties (and while I’m sure it has a different name other than ‘Dance Party’, I couldn’t tell you what that would be at this moment). My good friend Stacy and I had a blast meeting the Rapture Ruckus guys and getting to know them a little bit last summer at Fandana Fest at Huntington University.

Needless to say, I’ve been anxious to hear some new stuff from Rapture Ruckus. Today was the day I’ve been waiting for! If you go to www.RaptureRuckus.com, you can download their latest song ‘In Crowd’ that was recorded at the famed Parachute Music Festival in New Zealand.

I really, really, really, really, really like this song.  A lot.  As in, I don’t think 5 reallys are enough to do how much I like this song justice.

Go check out the ‘In Crowd’ at www.RaptureRuckus.com; and if you aren’t familiar with Rapture Ruckus, check out some of their other music at the Spotify link below!
